Singapore Airlines invests $1.6 billion in new luxury long-haul cabins

Singapore Airlines announced a $1.6 billion investment to upgrade its long-haul fleet with new luxury seats starting in the second half of 2027.

Scope of the cabin overhaul

The airline is upgrading all four travel classes across a programme covering 72 aircraft. This mix includes retrofitting Airbus A350-900s and installing new seats on Boeing 777-9 jets that are currently on order.

New features in premium cabins

First class centre seats will convert into the largest double bed found in commercial aviation. Business class areas will receive sliding privacy doors for the first time alongside fully flat beds.

Industry context and timing

This launch occurs while other global carriers such as Air France and British Airways also spend billions on premium travel. The new seats are scheduled to enter service during the second half of 2027.
