Spider-Man movie boosts Sony quarterly profits to record levels
Sony Group updated its financial outlook after blockbuster film sales and strong game revenue drove a sharp rise in September earnings.

Record quarterly income reported
The company posted operating income of $581 million for the three months ending September 30. This figure represents a 527 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Theatrical revenue reached $1.28 billion, driven largely by the new Spider-Man release.
Annual forecast raised significantly
Management now expects annual earnings of 1.33 trillion yen for the fiscal year ending in March. This projection is higher than the previous estimate issued in July. Game sales and music revenue also contributed to the improved financial picture.
Film performance stands out
The movie earned $2.52 billion globally and became the third highest grossing film of all time. It opened on July 31 and helped lift overall studio revenue significantly. Other titles like horror films also supported the theatrical segment growth.
