Israeli authorities deny landing to Ethiopian cargo flight due to Indonesian pilot
Israeli officials ordered an Ethiopian Airlines cargo plane to return to Addis Ababa on Monday because one of its pilots held Indonesian citizenship.

Flight forced to turn back
The aircraft was traveling from Ethiopia to Tel Aviv when authorities discovered the nationality of a crew member mid-flight. Israeli officials instructed the plane to return to its origin so that the Indonesian pilot could be replaced by someone eligible to enter Israel. The flight eventually landed in Tel Aviv after the replacement pilot boarded.
Impact on passenger services
TAL Aviation stated that this specific incident would not disrupt regular passenger flights between Tel Aviv and Addis Ababa. Ethiopian Airlines continues to operate its scheduled weekly cargo and passenger routes despite ongoing regional conflicts involving Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.
