Martin Margiela opens first Berlin exhibition at Konrad Fischer Galerie
Fashion designer Martin Margiela presents his debut show in Germany at Konrad Fischer Galerie in Berlin until December 19.
New artworks explore privacy themes
The display features sculptures, paintings, and assemblages that examine concepts of anonymity. One sculpture consists of twenty cinema seats stripped of upholstery and covered in plaster. These objects were created to shift the function of a shared viewing space.
Installation creates maze-like atmosphere
Partitions and veils divide the gallery to establish an intimate environment for visitors. Additional works include a large white fur gate and flattened boxer briefs. A crown of hair displays a Fibonacci spiral pattern as part of the collection.
Artist maintains incognito practice
The Belgian designer continues his long-standing devotion to remaining hidden from public view. This approach mirrors his previous exhibition held at Tokyo's Kudan House earlier this year. The show runs through the end of December at the Berlin venue.
