Indonesia cuts natural gas exports to Singapore over wildfire haze
Indonesia reduced natural gas exports to Singapore on Saturday to prioritize domestic electricity supply amid regional air pollution from wildfires.

Supply reduction details announced
Officials stated that a total of 31 million standard cubic feet per day would be cut from the supply. Fifteen million standard cubic feet per day comes from Natuna in Riau, while 16 million is reduced from Sumatra. The head of SKK Migas confirmed these figures in a statement released on Saturday.
Singapore impact and response
The Energy Market Authority noted the reduction amounts to less than two percent of the city-state's total daily gas demand. Singapore is currently the only country affected by this specific export disruption. Importers are expected to pursue relevant recourse in their contracts for the supply interruption.
Diplomatic context and stance
President Prabowo Subianto criticized countries that insult his nation regarding the haze crisis without naming specific targets. The two nations remain at loggerheads over regional air pollution emanating from wildfires on the archipelago. Indonesia will continue to monitor developments on a daily basis.
