National Trust for Jersey plans to buy field in St Clement
The National Trust for Jersey intends to purchase a field near Maupertuis Farm in the parish of St Clement to expand a local green space.

Trust secures rights for land
Conservationists have secured the rights to acquire the property and hope to finalize the purchase soon. This new acquisition follows a similar project in 2021 where the trust raised £50,000 quickly to buy nearby land on Samares Lane.
Goal is to protect wildlife
The organization defines this area as a green lung that provides habitat for wildlife and helps reduce pollution within an urban setting. Alan Le Maistre, the chief executive, stated that protecting these spaces is especially important in densely developed parts of the island.
Land preserves agricultural heritage
Officials say the latest acquisition will help preserve the agricultural heritage of Maupertuis Farm and its surrounding area. The trust currently manages about 1,800 vergées of land across Jersey and celebrated its 90th anniversary in August.
