H.E.S.S. collaboration sets new dark matter limits in Milky Way center

The H.E.S.S. Collaboration published new research on October 4, 2026, regarding gamma-ray searches for dark matter annihilation in the inner Milky Way.

Search targets galaxy center

Researchers used telescopes located in Namibia to look for specific signals. They focused on the dense region near the center of our galaxy. Hypothetical particles there might annihilate and produce gamma rays during the process.

Results show no signal

The team found no unusual concentration of gamma rays at a particular energy. Their data rules out certain models of dark matter particle behavior. The results were published in a recent scientific journal.
