Affordability concerns remain high

Neil Swanson of Tui UK and Ireland noted that fuel constitutes a huge part of any holiday. He added that consumers will have to reckon with these higher costs for the foreseeable future.

Airlines adjust winter capacity

Some airlines are now slashing capacity for the winter season because they are less hedged against price fluctuations. Mark Tanzer, chief executive of Abta, explained that oil price impacts extend beyond just jet fuel costs.

Fuel supply issues persist

New supplies of jet fuel have been established after earlier concerns regarding attacks on Iran in February. However, the cost of this fuel is staying far higher for longer than most people expected.
