Rice University researchers adapt light sheet microscopy for commercial chambers
A team at Rice University has developed a method to use single-objective light sheet microscopy in standard commercial sample chambers.

New method uses 3D-printed inserts
Researchers published their findings in the journal Nano Letters. The team created a noncytotoxic insert using 3D nanoprinting technology. This insert acts as a mirror to reflect light inside microfluidic chips.
Previous setups required two objectives
Earlier versions of this microscopy technique typically needed two objectives or specialized chambers. The new approach allows the use of most commercially available sample chambers without these restrictions. This change reduces background light while keeping the process gentle on biological samples.
