K-Electric warns of possible load management during peak hours due to RLNG constraints
K-Electric spokesperson Imran Rana stated on Friday that the utility might implement load management during evening and night peak hours because of nationwide re-gasified liquefied natural gas supply issues.

Reasons for potential power cuts
The spokesperson explained that international supply disruptions and delayed cargoes have constrained RLNG supplies across the country. This shortage affects electricity generation in Karachi as well as other regions under the utility's service territory. Daytime power supply is expected to remain largely stable while evening hours face higher risks.
Coordination efforts with authorities
K-Electric maintains close coordination with Pakistan LNG Limited and relevant government bodies to resolve the situation quickly. The utility described load management as an extreme last-resort measure that will only happen if absolutely necessitated. Officials apologized for any inconvenience caused to consumers while they work toward normalising the supply chain.
Historical context of shortages
A similar situation occurred earlier this year when consumers faced load management due to unavailability of RLNG. The government previously assured residents that power cuts would reduce once delayed cargoes arrived. Current hostilities in the Middle East have disrupted major oil and gas supply routes leading to these fuel shortages.
