Virgin Group unveils mock-up of future cross-Channel train for 2030 launch

Virgin Group has revealed a design concept for its new cross-Channel trains scheduled to begin service in 2030.

Design inspiration from other arms

The company plans to draw on its airline, cruise, and hotel businesses for the new vehicle. Interior spaces will resemble airport lounges to allow passengers to work or socialise. Food options will be influenced by menus from its cruise line operations.

Order placed with Alstom

Virgin has ordered 12 trains from the manufacturer Alstom for this project. The group aims to compete with Eurostar on design and customer experience. This venture marks the first time since the tunnel opened that a rival faces Eurostar directly.
