Development request issued last year

Eteck, the state body managing economic zones, asked qualified firms to design and manage a premier hotel. The site covers 12 hectares of land located within the Back Bay area. Rene Seepersadsingh of the Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association says the island is focused on attracting private partnership investment.

Community divides over growth plans

Local residents are split between those wanting large-scale development and those preferring smaller community-owned projects. The beach features coral reefs and fruit-bearing trees alongside dark rock formations. This location remains relatively unspoiled despite the ongoing struggle between opposing interests.
