Ferragamo designer Maximilian Davis reimagines 1940s skirt suits for Spring 2027
Maximilian Davis presented a new collection of relaxed 1940s-inspired skirt suits at the Ferragamo show for Spring 2027.
Designers strip away old structure
Davis studied historical uniforms featuring severe shoulder pads and ultra-nipped waists. He decided to remove that manufactured structure to create a relaxed silhouette instead. The first look displayed a grey mélange skirt suit with sandy undertones.
Jackets feature rounded sleeve arcs
The double-breasted jacket included sleeves cut to arc from shoulder to forearm. This specific cut created a rounded shape for the upper body. The matching skirt maintained a classic knee-length pencil shape with a belt.
Palette draws on Lee Miller
The mood board featured work by model and photographer Lee Miller. Her time in Egypt during the late 1930s influenced the use of desert hues. The color palette ranged from rich ochres to chocolate browns before adding watery blue.
