The United States is predominantly positioned in the story as a technological innovator and leader. Researchers examined more than 43,000 articles from sources across the United States and Europe.
Europe acts as regulator
Europe appears primarily as a regulator and normative evaluator within these media narratives. The final collection included 9,684 articles from the U.S. and 33,343 from Europe.
China faces ambivalent portrayal
Beijing is described as a hyper-visible rival associated with surveillance and geopolitical competition. Other regions like Africa and Latin America are largely absent or seen only as sites of implementation.
