Opponents fear environmental damage

Local resident Ernest Dyson described the project as destroying the most beautiful part of the Menai Strait. He stated that local people act as custodians for this specific landscape. More than 22,500 individuals have signed a petition against the development.

Developers promise jobs and growth

Canolfan Ddata Menai claims the complex would create over 900 construction roles and 200 permanent positions. The company says the site is currently derelict and needs revitalisation through continued use of the surrounding area.

MP calls for better rules

Liz Saville Roberts noted that Wales has a history of extractive industries leaving communities with little benefit. She argued that new data centres must be the right size and located in the right places.
