Fire-damaged Cairngorms paths reopen for cyclists after July wildfire
Cyclists are now able to ride new routes in the Cairngorms national park following a major wildfire that burned over 33 square kilometres of land starting on 15 July.

Evacuations and emergency response details
The emergency response lasted for more than a month involving over 500 firefighters. Homes and businesses were evacuated during the incident that began near Glenmore and Abernethy. Much of the burned area sits high on hills far from main roads.
Current route closures and detours
Path closures remain in place for the original line through Glenmore and past Loch Morlich. Visitors must now take a new line towards Nethy Bridge instead of the planned course. The bracken has changed from dark green to russet while birch leaves show gold.
Transport improvements for bike access
An electric Ember bus allows bikes to be booked on board for travel into Aviemore. This development offers a welcome change in Scottish public transport options for riders. The park stretches across 4,528 square kilometres making the damage surprisingly easy to miss.
