German Chancellor Merz arrives in Kyiv to finalize drone deal and release aid
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Kyiv on Sunday accompanied by defence CEOs to finalise a drone production deal and announce new military and energy support for Ukraine.

Merz announces financial assistance package
Officials stated that the visit includes the release of one billion euros in military aid. An additional three hundred fifty million euros is designated for repairs in the energy sector. Merz noted that Russian forces are currently bombing towns, residential buildings, and heating plants.
Delegation includes defence company executives
The Chancellor travels with Minister Katherina Reiche and leaders from firms such as Siemens Energy and Quantum Systems. The group aims to conclude a joint production agreement for various types of drones. Merz also intends to press Kyiv for progress on reforms requested by EU partners.
