Saltburn cricketer banned two years for finger-clicking deception trick
Brian Devine of Saltburn CC received a two-year ban and his team was relegated after admitting to using finger-clicking tricks to deceive umpires in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League.

Disciplinary panel confirms misconduct charges
A three-person disciplinary panel reviewed footage and statements before announcing sanctions on Friday. Both Devine and Saltburn CC accepted the misconduct charges brought against them. The fielder was seen clicking his fingers to create a sound that mimicked a ball edging a catch.
Club faces fine and league drop
Saltburn Cricket Club has been fined 300 pounds following the investigation into the deception. Their second team will start the 2027 season with a 60-point deduction in Division Three. The sanction covers playing, coaching, umpiring, scoring and managing junior teams until September 2028.
