Protests interrupt Ireland vs Austria Nations League match in Dublin
Pro-Palestine demonstrations halted play twice during the Republic of Ireland versus Austria Nations League game at Aviva Stadium on Thursday.

First half interruptions occur
The contest paused in the 20th minute after spectators launched tennis balls wrapped with Palestinian flag stickers onto the pitch. Play resumed shortly before a second stoppage occurred around the 35th minute when a man entered the field carrying a flag. Security personnel tackled the individual and removed him from the area of play.
Second half sees Austria equalise
Troy Parrott scored two goals for the hosts to build a 2-0 lead before the break. Substitutes Alexander Prass and Michael Gregoritsch scored for Austria to level the match at 2-2 in the second period. The final score remained unchanged after the resumption following the earlier disruptions.
Campaign group comments on event
The campaign group Stop the Game described the pitch invasions as a limited act of solidarity. Their statement noted that the protest was deliberate and necessary to show support for Gavin Bazunu. The match concluded with the Republic of Ireland accepting the draw result.
