XSci platform pays researchers to review preprints within specific timeframes
A Delaware-based startup called XSci launched in September and now offers cash rewards to scientists who review uploaded preprints.

Review fees depend on speed
The company pays US$200 for feedback submitted within five days of acceptance. Reviewers receive $100 if they complete the task between five and ten days. Authors cover these costs by paying XSci to have their work evaluated.
Author charges vary by option
Scientists uploading preprints pay $399 for a standard round of review. The fee drops to $249 if the author chooses to make the review report public. Founder Shumiao Ouyang states this system provides quick answers about journal chances.
Funding and future goals
The firm has secured approximately $500,000 from private investors so far. Ouyang says the startup is currently trying to raise more funds. The platform does not publish a journal but facilitates rapid peer feedback.
