Norwegian couple holds wedding in Sri Lanka blending Tamil traditions
Pira Thiru and Linnea Thiruketheeswaran Røsjø held their wedding ceremony in Bentota, Sri Lanka, in July 2025.

Couple planned unique celebration
The Oslo-based pair decided against a standard Norwegian wedding to honor their heritage. They wanted their future children to see Tamil traditions showcased throughout the event. The vision emerged from discussions about what they wanted their partnership to symbolize.
Event hosted 140 guests
The celebration included an exuberant Hindu ceremony followed by a Norwegian white-gown-and-tux reception day. Fireworks were set off after the main festivities concluded for the attendees. The couple worked with a Colombo-based planner to organize the event.
