New battery source and range

The company replaced the planned nickel-manganese-cobalt cells with an LFP pack made in Illinois. This new configuration extends the projected range to 205 miles based on EPA test cycles.

Reason for the switch

Federal tax credits ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025, removing the need for specific component origins. The change allows Slate to maintain its advertised starting price of $24,950.

Previous plan details

The original April 2025 unveiling intended a base model with an SK On battery offering 150 miles. A larger pack was supposed to provide about 240 miles for customers willing to pay more.
