Researchers at the University of Nottingham say a new protein-based gel can restore damaged tooth enamel within two weeks.

The new substance pulls calcium and phosphate from saliva to build organized crystals on damaged teeth. Lab tests confirmed the material withstands brushing, chewing, and acidic foods while performing like healthy enamel. This process also provides relief from tooth sensitivity by filling holes and cracks in the tooth structure.
