Yemeni army launches airstrikes on Houthi positions in Taiz province
The Yemeni army stated it conducted airstrikes against Houthi targets in the southwestern city of Taiz on Monday, 12 October 2026.
Targets located north and west of Taiz
Warplanes struck specific locations including Al-Arsouma, Al-Maraziqan, and the area known as 60th Street. Additional bombs fell on Jabal al-Mun'im and Tabbat al-Khalwa to the west of the city. A separate strike also hit a military camp situated in eastern Taiz.
Operation aims to restore state institutions
These attacks mark the eighth day of Operation Dawn of Yemen according to Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi. The stated goal is to bring back state control and retake the capital Sanaa from Houthi fighters. This escalation follows a period of relative calm after a truce that began in April 2022.
No immediate comment from Houthi side
The Yemeni army statement did not provide details regarding the results of these specific strikes. There was no immediate response or comment released by the Houthis following the bombardment. The conflict has been ongoing since the group seized several provinces in September 2014.
