Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship suspends global voyage in Cambodia over fuel costs
The Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship suspended its global voyage in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, on Tuesday after operator Villa Vie Residences cited rising fuel prices.

Passengers forced to disembark immediately
Hundreds of people permanently living aboard the vessel were required to leave the ship this week. Some passengers have already departed on flights while others remain waiting in the port city. A local deputy governor confirmed that these individuals are currently without permanent housing.
Operator cites war-related fuel hikes
The company stated that fuel price increases linked to the conflict between Iran and Israel made operations prohibitively expensive. This decision comes two years after the MV Odyssey began its journey from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The ship has no certain departure date as it stays docked at the port of Sihanoukville.
Accommodation search underway locally
Villa Vie Residences announced it is working to find temporary accommodation for those displaced from the vessel. Around 200 passengers were specifically noted as being left in Cambodia after the suspension of operations. The operator paused its three-year voyage without a confirmed timeline for resuming travel.
