Thirteen people drowned when a boat capsized in Bihar India
Police say thirteen people died after a boat overturned in Vaishali district of eastern Bihar state on Tuesday while carrying passengers to a festival.

Rescue efforts in darkness
Officials confirmed that six people were rescued from the water before the incident was fully resolved. Locals used mobile phones and torches to locate bodies because it was late at night when the boat sank.
Casualties include many children
Reports indicate that most of the thirteen victims were children who died in the Ganges River. A villager stated that a few families lost all their children during this tragedy.
Investigation into cause begins
Regional police officer Subodh Kumar told Reuters that authorities are investigating the cause of the incident. District magistrate Varsha Singh provided details about the passengers traveling to a feast in a neighbouring village.
