Thieves steal 30,000 wine bottles worth €5m from Italian winery
Seven masked men stole 30,000 bottles of wine worth €5m from Marchesi Antinori in Tuscany on Saturday.

Theft discovered after shipment prep
Staff at the Cortona facility found the loss on Monday morning while preparing a consignment for export. The intruders deactivated alarms and cameras before loading two large trucks with the company's prized reds.
Targeted high-value vintage wines
The stolen selection included Tignanello, Solaia and Guado al Tasso bottles that usually sell between €150 and €500 each. Experts believe the thieves possessed inside knowledge because they chose wines with significant market value.
Company expects recovery efforts
Renzo Cotarella stated he hoped authorities could trace the merchandise using cameras on Tuscan roads. The chief executive noted that such a large theft has never occurred in Italy before.
