President rejects sovereignty claims

Sharaa stated that any attempts violating Syria's sovereignty or international law will be stopped. He cited Security Council Resolution 497 to declare all annexation measures null and void. This statement came after Colombia recently recognised Israeli sovereignty over the strategically important plateau.

Israel faces accusations of aggression

The Syrian leader accused Israel of launching nearly 500 air strikes and conducting more than 1,200 incursions into his country. He also reported around 300 arrests and detentions of Syrians as part of these actions. Sharaa described these events as threatening stability and defying global consensus.

Call for withdrawal to lines

Damascus remains committed to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and calls for Israeli forces to withdraw to pre-December 2024 lines. The United Nations maintains that the area is Syrian territory under military occupation. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres previously described the occupation as totally unacceptable.
