New Yalu River Bridge between China and North Korea opens on October 15
China and North Korea will officially open the New Yalu River Bridge on October 15 following a joint ceremony.

Ceremony marks long-awaited opening
Chinese state news agency Xinhua reported that the two nations will hold an opening ceremony together. The bridge connects the Chinese city of Dandong with Sinuiju in North Korea.
Construction finished years ago
China completed its portion of the structure in 2014 while North Korea left its approach roads unfinished. Relations between the countries had soured over nuclear tests and United Nations sanctions before this event.
Trade figures show growth
Exports from China to North Korea reached a six-year high of 2.3 billion dollars last year. This represents a twenty-five percent increase compared to the previous year despite ongoing restrictions.
