Governor appoints acting replacement
Sherrill announced that she would appoint Shirley Emehelu, the state's acting comptroller, to serve as the acting lieutenant governor. Caldwell submitted his resignation earlier on Friday afternoon following the release of the 61-page report. His legal team plans to challenge the findings and explore all available legal remedies.
