Meeting aims to end escalation

The military delegation plans to present demands for an immediate stop to Israeli attacks. Officials hope the discussions will produce results that match the June framework agreement. President Aoun noted that Israel has not yet fulfilled its commitments under that deal.

French minister visits Beirut

President Aoun received Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot while making these announcements. The French official reaffirmed support for Lebanon and offered resources for humanitarian needs. This visit occurred alongside the news of the upcoming diplomatic engagement in Tampa.

UNIFIL mandate extension sought

Lebanon wants to extend the UN peacekeeping force mandate through 2027 to prevent a security vacuum. The current mission expires at the end of this year. An international presence in the south is seen as essential for stability.
