Karl Bushby completes 28-year walk around the world and returns to Hull
Former British paratrooper Karl Bushby finished his 28-year journey on Monday by crossing the Humber Bridge in his hometown of Hull.

Arrival after decades away
Bushby arrived in Hull after walking across four continents without using any form of transport. He had set off from Chile in 1998 and walked a total distance of roughly 36,000 miles. A crowd of up to 1,000 people cheered him as he entered the city centre.
Challenges faced during travel
The adventurer navigated jungles, deserts, mountains and a frozen sea while avoiding all motorised vehicles. He encountered obstacles including polar bears, kidnappers and a period of custody in Russia. Bushby stated that he did not return home until the entire challenge was fully completed.
Plans for final destination
Bushby will walk to his childhood home later on Monday to meet his mother Angela. He intends to complete the journey at the garden gate where she has been waiting. The former soldier expressed disbelief at the large number of supporters who joined him along the way.
