Israel revokes Dutch diplomat credentials in Ramallah over settlement goods ban

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar stated that Dutch diplomats must surrender their Israeli-issued documentation within seven days. After this deadline passes, the diplomatic privileges and immunities granted to these officials will expire. Israel informed the Dutch Embassy in Jerusalem of this decision on Sunday evening.
Representation limited to Palestinian territory
Sa'ar added that the Netherlands may continue representing its interests with Palestinians only from Palestinian Authority territory. This restriction applies specifically to diplomats currently operating within the territory of the State of Israel. The move follows the start of enforcement on September 22 regarding imports and personal baggage.
Ban covers multiple territories
The Dutch government began enforcing sanctions on goods from Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights, West Bank and east Jerusalem. These settlements are considered illegal under international law according to reports citing the context of the conflict. The ban applies to both commercial shipments and items carried in personal luggage.
