Iran Revolutionary Guards claim seizure of US underwater drone in Hormuz
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated on Sunday that they captured an American unmanned underwater vehicle operating in the Strait of Hormuz.
Guard forces describe the operation
IRGC naval personnel said they used intelligence oversight and electronic warfare to capture the device. They identified the object as a Remus 600 autonomous underwater vehicle belonging to the US military. The group stated that the drone was operating in the strait for espionage purposes before being seized.
Washington denies the incident occurred
US Central Command spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins rejected the Iranian assertion of a successful capture. He said the American military maintains positive control over all its operational drone assets. A US official described the Revolutionary Guard claim as clearly desperate.

Tehran insists the device is now in the hands of their specialists for data recovery. The United States continues to deny any loss of its underwater surveillance equipment in the region.
