Cyberattack forces defrosting of French supermarket refrigerators in over 200 stores
French supermarket chains Intermarché and Coopérative U reported a cyberattack on Sunday night that forced the defrosting of refrigerators in more than 200 locations.

Confirmed impact on major retailers
The two retailers told AFP on Monday that their systems were targeted overnight between Sunday and Monday. Paris prosecutors confirmed the incident and noted it also caused outbreaks of fire in some stores. Intermarché stated that affected branches must discard all fresh and frozen products.
Other chains reportedly affected
Reports indicate BFM TV said E. Leclerc was hit, though the company did not immediately confirm this information. Specialist website jebosseengrandedistribution.fr claimed Carrefour Market and Monoprix were also impacted by the attack. Coopérative U chief executive Dominique Schelcher described the event as unprecedented for the sector.
