Charles Leclerc leads Ferrari in first Mexico City Grand Prix practice
Charles Leclerc drove the fastest car for Ferrari during the first practice session of the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Ferrari dominates high altitude track
Leclerc was more than half a second faster than Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli in the opening session. The Ferrari team expects their small turbo engine to perform well at the high-altitude Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth after completing a lap on soft tyres.
Antonelli leads championship standings
Kimi Antonelli is currently 123 points ahead of teammate George Russell in the drivers' championship. The young Mercedes driver needs only two more points to secure the title with four races remaining. He missed Thursday's media day but recovered in time for Friday's sessions.
Verstappen collision with Lawson
Max Verstappen and former teammate Liam Lawson collided during the practice weekend events. Leclerc set a best time of 1:17.827 in the second session before Antonelli won that race. The surface conditions were described as slippery by the Ferrari driver.
