British Columbia conservation officers investigate fatal grizzly bear attack on mother and daughter
Canadian authorities confirmed the deaths of a mother and her daughter in a suspected grizzly bear attack near Bella Coola, British Columbia.

Victims identified and location found
Jenny Balcarras and her daughter Selah Reed were reported missing over the weekend. Search teams located their vehicle at a trailhead close to Bella Coola before finding the first body on Tuesday. The second remains were discovered a day later by police and conservation officers working together.
Investigation into bear involvement
Officials believe the incident may have involved more than one grizzly bear in the area. Inspector Jeff Tyre stated that any bears captured will be assessed to determine their role. The community remains under a curfew while officers complete their investigation.
Community impact and safety warning
This tragedy follows an earlier attack on schoolchildren earlier in the year. Authorities urge the public to stay out of the area for safety reasons. A fundraiser has started to support the families affected by this loss.
