At least 109 migrants died after boat capsized off Djibouti
The International Organisation for Migration reported at least 109 migrant deaths and over 100 missing after a vessel sank near Obock, Djibouti, on October 8-9.

Casualties and missing persons
The vessel carried 350 people from Djibouti to Yemen when it overturned north of the town. Among the recovered bodies were 52 men, 42 women, nine girls, and six boys. More than 80 survivors were rescued, all of whom are Ethiopian nationals.
Emergency response efforts
IOM teams worked alongside local authorities to provide emergency aid to those on the ground. Local officials are currently arranging burials for the deceased while medical care is available for survivors. Alexandre Coissac, the IOM chief of mission in Djibouti, stated that thoughts are with the families.
