Verity film location in Westchester New York replaces Vermont home
The movie Verity was filmed at a property in Westchester, New York, instead of the Vermont setting described in the script.
Production sought modern ominous setting
Location manager Elizabeth Krekel and production designer Amy Williams searched for a specific atmosphere to match the novel. They found a suitable site in Westchester that offered the required modern and ominous feel. This location served as the villain's lair for the production.
Plot moves from city to woods
The story follows Lowen Ashleigh as she travels from New York City to a rural area. Dakota Johnson plays the struggling author who takes on a ghostwriting project for an injured writer. Anne Hathaway stars as the titular lead in this twisty new thriller.
Vermont home described in notes
Production notes describe Author Verity Crawford's imposing Vermont home as a supporting character in the film. The script indicates the action takes place in the woods of rural Vermont. An actual property in that state was not used for filming.
