US sanctions force Iranian airlines to cancel international flights
United States sanctions on Iran's aviation industry have caused Iranian carriers to suspend several international routes starting Wednesday.
Suspended routes and available travel
Flights to Baghdad, Muscat, Qatar, Georgia and Azerbaijan were suspended on Wednesday. Flights to China remained available despite the new restrictions. A Mahan Air flight from Tehran landed in Guangzhou according to tracking data.
China opposes US measures
China stated Tuesday that it opposed the sanctions and called them illegal. Some flights to Istanbul were scheduled while others had been canceled. Travel agents in Tehran stopped selling tickets due to instability.
