Preliminary work starts soon

Mr Waters stated that preliminary work on the new terminal would begin within the next 12 months. He released design renders but could not confirm the final cost or completion date for the project.

Construction causes disruption

The chief executive said there will be significant construction activity around the Airport Central location over the coming years. Passengers should plan for delays while the airport consolidates its four existing terminals and integrates Qantas operations.

Budget details uncertain

A 2024 agreement originally set a budget of $3 billion for the terminal and a parallel runway. Waters noted that uncertainty remains regarding whether this initial budget is still current after years of delays.
