Request for historical preservation

The railway operator submitted a formal request regarding the station which stopped serving passengers in 2011. Documents indicate that the building, platforms and associated infrastructure have suffered significant deterioration since operations ceased.

History of the line

The Chalisa-Khewra section opened in August 1887 to transport rock salt and coal while serving local passengers. The facility supported industrial growth for companies such as Imperial Chemical Industries before road transport reduced freight volume from the 1990s.

Current operational status

Passenger services ended in 2011 and the station has remained non-operational since that date. The Punjab Archaeology Department is now evaluating the proposal to restore the site for visitors.
