Fleet expansion begins next year

Partnership covers crew and maintenance

Norse Atlantic will provide the planes along with crew, maintenance, and insurance under an ACMI arrangement. This setup allows PIA to expand its long-haul network while Norse redeployes capacity from returning aircraft.

CEO highlights UK market importance

PIA Chief Executive Officer AVM Amir Hayat stated that the United Kingdom remains a vital market for the airline. He noted the agreement will increase capacity and offer greater choice for passengers on these routes.

Partnership terms and aircraft details

Norse Atlantic will supply the planes along with crew, maintenance, and insurance coverage. This arrangement allows PIA to increase its long-haul capacity on routes connecting Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The Norwegian carrier can also move these assets from its previous ACMI work.

Strategic goals for both airlines

PIA leadership stated that this deal strengthens connectivity for the large Pakistani community living in the UK. The airline aims to meet rising passenger demand through direct flights and broader global reach. Norse Atlantic CEO Eivind Roald described the move as the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two groups.

Context after recent privatization

The national carrier completed its privatisation process in December 2025 before launching this modernisation effort. PIA currently operates a fleet of 31 aircraft that includes Boeing 777s and Airbus A320s. Officials noted that discussions between Pakistan and the UK regarding aviation cooperation took place recently.
