Humpty Doo Hotel listed for sale after decades of operation
The Humpty Doo Hotel in the Northern Territory is being sold by licensee Rod Parry following a 39-year period of ownership.

Landmark venue faces new owner
Rod Parry has decided to end his tenure after managing the pub for nearly four decades. The establishment is located about 40 kilometres south-east of Darwin and serves as a stopover for visitors heading to Kakadu National Park.
Cultural significance remains intact
The property was established in 1971 and survived Cyclone Tracy before Parry purchased it in 1987. Local music history includes Slim Dusty writing the Humpty Doo Waltz while inspired by this specific location.
Unique features define the bar
Patrons have included horses standing at the counter alongside riders enjoying a drink. The interior displays large buffalo horns that some sources claim are the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere.
