Recent visit reveals empty streets

A recent country walk found the area largely deserted compared to previous years. Only a couple taking wedding pictures and a few stragglers were present when visitors arrived in the early afternoon.

Historic building sits vacant

Murray House, a historic structure relocated from Central, has been empty for more than a year. Hoarding currently blocks off much of the building which once housed restaurants across three floors.

Market and promenade quiet

The side-street market and main beach promenade no longer draw the hordes of visitors from mainland China or Western countries. The seaside town has transitioned from a packed tourist destination to one with boarded-up bars and restaurants.
