Hong Kong expects 1.29 million mainland visitors for National Day holiday
About 1.29 million mainland Chinese tourists are expected to arrive in Hong Kong starting Thursday for the seven-day National Day holiday.
Recent visitor numbers rise sharply
Immigration Department figures show 439,532 mainland visitors entered the city from last Friday to Sunday. This count represents roughly a quarter of all arrivals recorded during that three-day Mid-Autumn Festival period.
Industry anticipates high occupancy rates
A tourism representative predicts hotel occupancy will exceed 90 per cent in popular districts during the upcoming break. The daily average arrival rate is projected to increase by five per cent compared with last year.
Extended leave creates long break
Residents can combine the three-day Mid-Autumn holiday with additional leave from Monday to Wednesday for a continuous 13-day rest. The seven-day National Day period officially begins on Thursday.
