Federal government plans to convert Islamabad One Constitution Avenue into a five-star hotel
The federal government announced on Wednesday that Islamabad's One Constitution Avenue will be turned into a five-star hotel after a joint investigation team confirmed the project involved irregularities.

Investigation team confirms fraud
A joint investigation team reported to the federal cabinet that the skyscraper project was fraudulent. The team included agencies such as the National Accountability Bureau and the Federal Investigation Agency. Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated that the report detailed how the original hotel plan was altered.
Lease cancelled by CDA
The Capital Development Authority cancelled the lease because the company defaulted on payments. The Islamabad High Court upheld this decision in April before mass evictions occurred in May. Residents were displaced following the court order that validated the cancellation.
Project history and changes
The building was initially intended to function as a five-star hotel but became residential apartments instead. Commercial areas were added during the conversion process before the lease was terminated. The government now intends to restore the property to its original hotel designation.
