Copenhagen opens new public bathhouse Kai at harbor this December
A new public swimming facility named Kai opened at Copenhagen Harbor on Saturday, December 5.

Design and construction timeline
The Japanese firm Kengo Kuma Associates created the structure after eight years of work. Construction delays caused by the pandemic pushed the opening date from 2021 to this December. The building now stands as a landmark along the waterfront.
Pool features and capacity
The facility contains ten separate pools for visitors to use. An open-air rooftop pool is located on the upper level of the structure. A heated onsen overlooks the harbor area directly below the main deck.
Location and public access
Locals and tourists can swim in this new addition to the city landscape. The site replaces unused space that previously hosted floating pools introduced in the early 2000s. Winter swimming clubs with sauna access now have another option for members.
