Xiaomi 18 Pro features extra rear screen and privacy display technology
Xiaomi is preparing to ship the Xiaomi 18 Pro globally next year with a secondary rear display and advanced privacy features.
Device specifications and release timing
The new phone includes one-and-a-bit screens that combine a main panel with a smaller OLED on the back. The standard Pro model has a 2.66-inch rear screen while the Pro Max version offers a 2.86-inch display running at 120Hz. These devices succeed the China-only Xiaomi 17 Pro and will be available worldwide starting next year.
Secondary screen functionality
The extra display allows users to show widgets, wallpapers, and media controls without using the main screen. Owners can also use the rear panel to frame selfies taken with the cameras located on the back of the device. This setup provides an alternative for users who want dual-screen capabilities without a fully foldable form factor.
Privacy display capabilities
Xiaomi introduced its own version of privacy technology that restricts viewing angles to prevent snooping beyond 60 degrees. The system can obscure notifications and widgets while leaving the rest of the main display unaffected. Users may apply this feature to specific apps in split-screen mode or to particular locations on the screen.
