Xbox Series X runs PlayStation 5 games via open-source emulator in developer mode
Developer Devran Cosmo Uenal demonstrated an Xbox Series X running PlayStation 5 titles on September 8 using his own port of the KytyPS5 emulator.

Emulator relies on shared hardware architecture
The project works because both consoles use closely matched AMD components including eight Zen 2 CPU cores and RDNA 2 graphics. Sony and Microsoft built their current systems with the same x86-64 processor architecture that PCs utilize. KytyPS5 acts as a compatibility layer that translates graphics commands rather than recreating hardware in software.
Memory limits restrict playable library
The emulator functions only within the console's official Developer Mode where Microsoft caps games at 5GB of memory. This restriction unfortunately rules out the majority of current-generation titles available on the PlayStation 5. There is currently no public download for anyone else to try the software yet.
